Thigh Lift Surgery Process

Our surgeons use different techniques and incisions depending on the required correction. The inner/medial thigh lift is the most common one. Other thigh lifts include the outer thigh lift, mini thigh lift, and vertical thigh lift.

An inner thigh lift uses an incision in the groin that extends to the back of the thigh or downwards to the knee. Swelling and pain are more in the first 2-3 days, controlled with pain medications. Keep your mobility to the minimum but do move around to maintain the circulation.

Give your legs as much rest as possible to allow the incisions to heal. After a week, it is time to remove the dressings and stitches. Continue wearing the compression garment to control the swelling and support the thighs.

Limit activities for 2 to 3 weeks. Slowly the swelling and bruising subside, and you can start seeing the results of your procedure after a month. Light exercise is allowed but nothing too stressful. It can take 3 to 6 months for the swelling to subside completely and for you to see the results. The appearance of the thighs continues to improve as the scars heal and fade even up to one year.

Risks Associated with a Thigh Lift

Thigh lift surgery, like any other major surgery, has some risks. Some risks include bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing, reaction to anesthesia, fluid retention, and seroma formation.

Though every attempt is made to hide the incisions in the natural folds of the body or areas covered with clothing, scars can be visible in certain patients. Blood clot formation in the lower extremities is a risk with this surgery. Therefore, patients should maintain a certain degree of walking and mobility to prevent this. Recurrence of loose skin is possible due to aging or other factors and may need revision.
